TURKES ORDERS ONE OF EXTREME RIGHTISTS TO BRING HEAD OF OCALAN
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Alparslan Turkes formed a team comprised of three people to kill Abdullah Ocalan, the head of the terrorist organization PKK, as members of his party put pressure on him in 1992. The head of the team was V.K., whom the members of the party named ''chief.'' The second member of the team was H.D. and the third was A.B. Three of them knew the region very well. After the team was formed, Turkes told the ''chief'' to conduct the operation from Turkey. Turkes said, ''two people whom you choose will be sent to the region. They will not leave any evidence behind them. That is, they will go and come to Syria through illegal means. Find trace of Ocalan. Follow him. Learn what he does in 24 hours. Control his tours. Learn about who visits him. And, convey the information you collect to us through couriers. Don't ever use telephone lines. Couriers will often come to your region from Turkey. Let's choose these couriers among reliable people.''

SCANDAL PLEASING AL MURDERER: PREMIUM FROM UEFA FOR TERRORISM
Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which decided to switch matches between Turkish teams and Juventus and Chelsea from Turkey to neutral venues, stabbed Turkey in the back. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, ''this decision is a premium for international terrorism.'' UEFA surrendered to the British and Italians and considered Turkey's state guarantee as non-existent. Turkey was left alone. The shameful decision of UEFA to swift matches of Besiktas and Galatasaray from Turkey to neutral venues is registered as a black stain in the football history. It has thus been revealed that the statements of European leaders in the wake of blasts in Turkey that ''they were beside Turkey in fight against terrorism'' are in vain. Erdogan said, ''we will certainly oppose to the decision.''

UEFA REGARDS TURKEY AS EQUAL WITH ISRAEL WHERE BOMBS EXPLODE ONE AFTER THE OTHER EVERYDAY
UEFA which switched three forthcoming European club matches from Turkey to neutral venues regarded Turkey as equal with Israel where bombs exploded one after the other everyday.
UEFA put its signature under a scandal. UEFA decided for the Champions League Group D match between Galatasaray and Juventus, which had been postponed until Dec. 2 and the Champions League Group G match Dec. 9 between Besiktas and Chelsea to be played in neutral venue.
Although Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave state assurances to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and UEFA, this decision was taken.

HAVE THE EXPLOSIVE DEVICES CAME FROM ANKARA?
Ankara police detained 13 people pertaining to attacks in Istanbul. Azad Ekinci's wife and brother of his wife were also interrogated. It had been determined that Ekinci had a house in Ankara and that he had visited this house before the bomb attacks. Police focus on the possibility that the bombs had been prepared in Ankara.

ERDOGAN: ''EXPRESSION OF ISLAMIC TERRORISM HURTS ME''
According to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, terrorism can never be associated with the name of Islam. Discussions on definition of terrorism continue. Prime Minister Erdogan condemned ''the efforts to associate Islam with terrorism'' after he performed the namaz on the first day of the Feast of Ramadan. Erdogan said that there were columnists who associated terrorism with Islam and added, ''Islam can never be an adjective of terrorism.''

GOOD NEWS ABOUT ENERGY
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler told Sabah daily that there would not be rise in electricity prices in 2004. Guler said that electricity costs would decrease at significant extent thanks to the natural gas agreement signed with the Russians. Thus, Guler added, next year's electricity prices would be the same with this year.

BRITAIN WARNS AGAINST A NEW ATTACK
British Foreign Ministry announced that they had intelligence that new attacks might take place in Ankara, and reiterated its citizens not to visit big cities if not necessary.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized this statement and said, ''there is a serious intelligence dilution''
Erdogan said, ''if we are to set up a joint platform to fight against terrorism, and if you have received such information, media is not the place where this information would be given, it is the country which is related with the issue. Erdogan said, ''basing on the security cooperation between us, this information should be conveyed to the intelligence organization of the related country.''

CRITICAL DAY IN LOIZIDU CASE
It was claimed that Turkey paid the compensation, worth of 1 million 100 thousand U.S. dollars to Greek Cypriot citizen Titiana Loizidu in line with the decision of European Court of Human Rights. Council of Europe did not make a statement on this issue. The additional time, which Delegates Committee gave to Turkey to pay the compensation will expire today.

GUL ANNOUNCES: ''A NEW CONCEPT''
Foreign Minister Gul said that they would broaden democracy and freedom against terrorism. Gul noted that attacks in Istanbul would be a lesson to European Union (EU). Gul said, ''terrorists are puppets and we will not permit those who manipulate them. We will develop a new concept. Freedom and democracy will be broadened.

BURN ROME BESIKTAS!
Besiktas soccer team of Turkey will take on Lazio in Rome in a Champions League match tonight. If Besiktas wins this match and gets a point, it will gain a big advantage for the second tour.

ERDOGAN HARSHLY REACTS DECISION OF UEFA
UEFA switched three upcoming European club matches from Turkey to neutral venues. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan harshly criticized this decision of UEFA, stating that this would give premium for international terrorism.
Erdogan said the decision which had been taken was not fair, noting that they rejected the decision that had been taken.
Erdogan said, ''necessary rejection would be made to UEFA'', stressing that efforts would be underway to make the matches be played in Turkey.

BABACAN: WE BREAK RECORDS
State Minister Ali Babacan said recent terrorist attacks would not affect economy, adding that surprise results would continue in inflation figures and rate of interests.
Babacan said, ''we should have a good morale. We should not be daunted because of difficulties. People should preserve its tranquility and patience. He said the government was determined on the economy program and policies.''

SOME PROPOSED MONEY TO TALIBAN, IT HAS BECOME DIFFICULT TO SAVE TURKISH ENGINEER
Afghan President Hamid Karzai said that the operation planned to save Turkish engineer Hasan Onal, who has been abducted by Taliban about a month ago, was postponed in the last minute. According to information received from Karzai, the operation was delayed since some circles intervened and offered money to Taliban. Karzai, who spoke to Zaman daily, said that they had been close to the activists in the first days after the engineer was abducted. Noting that it was possible to ensure release of Turkish engineer in first days, Karzai said that two or three sources offered money to the activists and therefore, activists thought that they could get more money if they continued pressure.

GOVERNMENT IS VERY STRONG-WILLED
U.S. State Department's Special Coordinator for Cyprus Thomas Weston replied to questions of Zaman daily after taking up Cyprus issue with European Union (EU) Commissioner for enlargement Guenter Verheugen yesterday. Weston said that he also met with officials of the Commission responsible for Turkey and Cyprus. Weston said that Cyprus could be a serious obstacle before opening full membership negotiations with Turkey. Noting that they were very ''concerned'' about Cyprus issue, Weston said that Turkish government had a very strong will to solve the issue.
