ANKARA - Former Parliament Speaker and Foreign Minister Hikmet Cetin, appointed as the NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan, will go to Brussels after the Feast of Ramadan.
Cetin will meet with NATO Secretary General George Robertson and other officials in NATO Headquarters and discuss ''details'' of his new position.
Hikmet Cetin will be responsible for carrying forward political-military aspects of the Alliance's assistance to the Afghan Transitional Authority in fulfilling the Bonn Agreement commitments.
NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Cetin will also work closely with International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the United Nations (U.N.) and other coordinating bodies established by the international community and the Afghan Transitional Authority in Kabul.
