Boiler Explosion Kills Four in Diyarbakır Military Housing Block

A central heating boiler explosion brought down much of a five-story military residential building in the southeastern Türkiye city of Diyarbakır, killing at least four people and trapping others beneath the rubble.

Recovery teams retrieved an additional body on Monday, bringing the confirmed death count to four. Among those killed were Halime Polat, the wife of a non-commissioned officer, and her two children, Ada and Kana. The identity of the fourth victim had not yet been established.

Seven survivors were pulled from the debris earlier in the day. Land Forces Commander Gen. Ilker Basbug visited the wounded at hospital and confirmed that rescue crews were still working to reach four people believed to be alive under the collapsed sections.

Search and rescue operations continued with assistance from the General Staff's natural disaster relief unit.
