ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Monday that terrorism, which aimed at innocent people, was a global problem that threatened all humanity, not only a country or a nation, emphasizing that nobody would have the force to destroy the unity and integrity of Turkey and intimidate Turkey and Turkish people.
Issuing a message on the occasion of Feast of Ramadan, Sezer said that Turkey had the happiness of celebrating a feast which had an important place in social life and during which good values and feelings were shared.
Presenting his best wishes and respect to all Turkish people, Sezer wished Feast of Ramadan to bring peace, tranquility and prosperity to Turkey.
Noting that humanity was trying to overcome problems such as inequality, poverty, ignorance and terrorism while making itself developed and free with the effects of developments and changes in every field, Sezer emphasized that terrorism and violence, which ignore human existence, was an obstacle before creating a happy and tranquil world although universal values and especially democracy and human rights were accepted in the whole world.
Sezer noted that terrorist attacks launched in Istanbul, which was the integrity center of religions and civilizations, on November 15 and 20 showed one more time the merciless, bloody and ugly face of terrorism. He added that during the attacks all humanity was aimed at, not only peace and tranquility milieu in Turkey.
Sezer condemned one more time the attacks with hatred and said that nobody would have the force to destroy the unity and integrity of Turkey and intimidate Turkey and Turkish people.
Turkey, which had suffered much from terrorism, would continue its fight against terrorism and its support to international initiatives by keeping to principles of rule of law and legitimacy, Sezer pointed out.
