CANAKKALE - Captain of Maltese-flagged cargo ship which ran aground in Canakkale Strait on Saturday asked on Sunday for help.
Captain of the ship named ''Feluca 1'' which ran aground in Umurbey hamlet due to heavy fog asked for help as the crew could not save the ship by their own capabilities.
Officials started rescue efforts by sending a tug-boat to the spot.
The Maltese-flagged cargo ship was 4 thousand 134 gross tons in weight and 107 meters in length.
It was en route from Aliaga town of Aegean Izmir province to Ukraine when it ran aground in Canakkale Strait.
