KONYA - Security forces detained 201 foreigners in counter-narcotics operations in Turkey in 2005.
According to a report by the Turkish Security Department, number of foreigners who were detained in such operations increased by 14.8 percent when compared to the figures in 2004.
Iranians accounted for 30 percent of foreigners who were detained for illicit drug trafficking. They were followed by Bulgarians, Macedonians, Syrians and Somalians.
Security forces impounded 16 thousand ecstasy pills, 4.1 million captagon pills and 810 kg of heroin in those operations.
