IZMIR - Ten people including a lawyer who identified himself as the "commander of Al-Qaida in Turkey" were detained, sources told the A.A on Saturday.
Security forces launched simultaneous operations in the cities of Izmir, Istanbul and Ankara after receiving a tip-off that members of the Al-Qaida obtained bomb-making material.
During the operations, ten people including a lawyer who is identified only with his initials M.T., were detained.
Meanwhile, security forces seized several bomb-making material in Istanbul, and a "CD bomb" (a minuscule explosive device placed on a CD which would have exploded if played) in Izmir.
After their interrogation at the Police Department, the detainees were arrested by the court on duty, and sent to prison.
