WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. House of Representatives condemned unanimously bomb attacks in Istanbul. A total of 42 representatives sent a letter giving the message of solidarity with Turkey to President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The letter which was signed by Democrat Party Florida representatives Alcee Hastings and Robert Wexler, Democrat Party California representative Tom Lantos, Republican Party Texas representative Kay Granger and Republican Party Kentucky representative Ed Whitfield condemned attacks and expressed wish of condolence.
It said that they wanted to express their wish of condolence to Turkish people due to terrorist attacks which took place in Istanbul on November 15 and 20 and stated that they gave the promise that U.S. Congress would support initiatives which would bring those who were responsible for those dreadful attacks to justice.
Stating that those attacks recalled that the United States and Turkey shared values including democracy, freedom and tolerance, the letter said that they confirmed that the United States was in solidarity with Turkey in fight against terrorism.
It said that Turkey had been shoulder to shoulder with the United States for more than 50 years and noted that the United States was ready for every kind of support to punish those who were responsible for attacks.
The letter said that terrorism did not make any discrimination in nationality, culture and religion.
House of Representatives also voted for a bill giving the message of solidarity with Turkey and condemned attacks which took place in Turkey on November 15 and 20.
