ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer sent back the law on adding a temporary article to the law regarding Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) to Parliament for reconsideration on Friday.
Presidency Press Center stated that the arrangement, which gave authority to the prime minister to make appointments for all vacant memberships of the council, was not appropriate to public benefit and the principle of state of law.
The statement said that appointment to all vacant memberships of the council by a political organ would overshadow national and international respect and neutrality of studies and publications of the council.
