BERLIN - Victims of terrorist attacks in Istanbul were commemorated on Friday with a ceremony organized by Turkish and Jewish communities in New Synagogue in Berlin.
Many representatives from Turkish and Jewish associations attended the ceremony organized by the American Jewish Committee (AJC).
Marieluise Beck, commissioner of the German Federal Government for Refugees, Migration and Integration who delivered a speech at the ceremony said that terrorism was approaching Europe and stated that fight against terrorism would last long. Beck said that they should come together and exert efforts for fight against it.
Beck condemned radical fundamentalist terrorism and noted that people should act moderately on religion.
Turkish Embassy in Berlin Counselor Muhsin Kilicaslan who delivered a speech on behalf of Ambassador Mehmet Ali Irtemcelik said that they felt deeply sad over people who died in attacks in Istanbul.
Kilicaslan said that terrorism and Islam should not be connected with each other and stated that those terrorist attacks did not have any connection with Islam.
Stating that Turkey would overcome terrorism as it did in the past, he said that Turkey was a secular country which defended values that all of them shared. Kilicaslan said that everybody should exert efforts against terrorism and noted that terrorists should not succeed.
