LEFKOSA - U.S. State Department's Cyprus Special Coordinator Thomas Weston met with State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas on Friday.
Speaking after the meeting, Denktas said that the only method and the only solution that was put in front of Turkish Cypriots was ''to make Turkish Cypriots give up their rights so that the issue can be sorted.'' Denktas said this would not be the case and that Turkish Cypriots wouldn't give up their rights.
''It is very clear that both the EU and the Greek Cypriot side will start to have the headache which we currently have after May 2004,' Denktas said.
Denktas said Weston asked for information about the elections, adding that finally Annan plan came to agenda during the meeting. Denktas said that he tried to explain Weston that the plan was harmful to Turkish Cypriots particularly about properties and that the result of the plan would be a defeat for Turkish Cypriots.
Noting that Greek Cypriots had to accept the sovereign equality of Turkish Cypriots, Denktas said that he clearly explained to Weston that it was not possible to find another solution method other than that.
Denktas said he also expressed the uneasiness regarding Michael Klosson, the U.S. representative in south Cyprus, who visited villages one by one in TRNC to explain Annan plan.
