ISTANBUL - Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler said on Thursday that they had taken security measures at the highest level and stated that they increased measures in especially certain places.
Upon a question on identification of assailants, Guler said that they would not make any statement on this issue.
Upon another question on the number of dead bodies recovered from Britain's consulate general in Istanbul, he said that 16 people died in the attack on the consulate and stated that four of them were British citizens. Guler said that 11 people died in blast in Levent district and added that totally 27 people died in blasts.
Guler said that there were also people who died in their cars around the consulate and stated that four of people who died in the attack were personnel of the consulate, two were policemen. Guler stated that 25 people who died in attacks were identified.
Stating that there were also body parts and death toll could increase, he said that brain function of a person who was taken to Acibadem Hospital ended.
Guler said that Thursday's blasts had some similarities with incidents on Saturday and stated that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made necessary statement on the issue.
