U.N. Security Council Expected To Approve A Resolution Condemning Terrorist Attacks

UNITED NATIONS - U.N. Security Council is expected to convene on Thursday and approve a resolution condemning global terrorism due to blasts in Istanbul.
Diplomatic sources said that Security Council would convene at 22.30 local time by diplomatic initiatives of Turkey and stated that the Council would vote and approve a resolution condemning blasts in Istanbul which would be submitted by the United States.
Sources said that although Turkey was not represented in the Security Council, Turkey's diplomatic initiatives yielded positive results and noted that all members of the Council supported the resolution which was prepared by the United States as a result of diplomatic contacts of Turkey.
Stating that Syria's attitude was not clear yet, but it was expected that this country would vote in favor of the resolution, the same sources said that they expected that the resolution would be approved unanimously.
The resolution foresees a global cooperation against terrorism.
U.N. Security Council's attitude on fight against terrorism is considered as a diplomatic success of Turkey.
Turkey's Permanent Representative to U.N. Umit Pamir is expected to make a speech condemning terrorism in the session of the Council.
