U.S. Ambassador To Turkey Edelman: British Consul General Dies In Blast

ANKARA - U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman said on Thursday that he was informed about the death of British Consul General to Istanbul Roger Short.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara Esenboga Airport, Edelman said that the attacks which took place in Istanbul for the second time in one week were tragedy. He said they shared the grief of Turkish people.
Edelman said U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell conveyed his messages of condolences, adding British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. President George W. Bush referred to this issue with the statements they made. Edelman said that this was an attack against humanity, adding that the U.S. was ready to help Turkey. He also expressed condolences to the families of those who died in the incidents.
When asked if British Consul General to Istanbul was alive, Edelman said he was informed about his death.
