ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Thursday that he was saddened with the explosions occurred in Istanbul, adding that the aim of the terrorism was to create fear, intimidation and panic. The state had the power to overcome every type of problem together with nation, he said.
Presidency Press Center stated that Sezer received information from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu regarding the explosions.
Making a statement regarding the incident, Sezer said that he was saddened with the explosions which targeted innocent people again after the attacks launched in Istanbul on November 15. He added that the aim of terrorism was to create fear, intimidation and panic. The state has the power to overcome every problem together with nation, he noted.
Sezer said that he wished that the nation would not experience such big pains and the number of dead and injured people would not increase.
Sezer offered his condolences to families and relatives of dead people and wished a rapid recovery to injured ones.
