ISTANBUL - Transportation Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Wednesday that ship building industry had an important place in development of developed countries.
''Turkey will record important progress in ship building in the near future,'' said Yıldırım who returned to Turkey from Amsterdam, Holland where he attended the International Maritime Fair.
Speaking in a news conference, Yıldırım said that they had the opportunity to promote the capabilities of Turkey in ship building and yacht building to experts coming from different countries in the fair.
Noting that Turkey recorded important progress in ship building recently, Binali Yıldırım said that ''Turkey is very good in chemical tanker building, it comes the fourth in the world in yacht-building. We must have larger shipyards to build bigger ships.''
