German Ambassador To Turkey Says He Is Optimistic That Cyprus Issue Will Be Solved

ANKARA - German Ambassador to Turkey Wolf-Ruthart Born said on Wednesday that he was optimistic that Cyprus issue would be solved.
Speaking in a conference on European Union (EU), Germany and Turkey held at Ankara University in Ankara, Born said that all sides should sit and solve Cyprus issue after elections in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Replying to a question about Turkish-Greek relations and Cyprus issue, Born said that Greece supported Turkey's EU membership.
Noting that they should not talk about past, Born said that they should look at future and stressed that Turkish-Greek cooperation was very good.
Born stated that Turkish people wanted to join EU for better living conditions.
Pointing out that Turkey was in a positive reform process, Born said that if Turkey reached a satisfactory level, the EU Commission would make positive recommendations to heads of government the following year.
