ANKARA - Foreign Ministry officials informed on Wednesday Parliamentary European Union (EU) Adjustment Commission regarding EU Constitution.
The commission convened under the leadership of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Duzce Deputy Yasar Yakis. Foreign Ministry officials informed commission regarding EU Constitution during the meeting.
The officials explained the studies of EU Convention, which was formed to prepare EU Constitution, and the current situation. They said that a final shape was not given to the draft Constitution and added that member countries could not reach a consensus yet about the share of authority.
Recalling that Turkey, as a candidate country, participated in the activities of Convention as well, officials said that EU thought that it three-dimensional structure should be protected. Officials informed commission members about the attitude of Turkey on the issue of referring to religious values in Constitution.
