ISTANBUL - Health Minister Recep Akdag left on Tuesday for Egypt as the official guest of Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Mohammad Awad Tag El Din.
Prior to his departure, Akdag told reporters that relation between Turkey and Egypt in the field of health were carried out within the framework of agreement on health and medical cooperation signed in 1999.
Akdag said that the agreement foresaw cooperation in exchange and training of health personnel, exchange of information and organization of joint scientific activities.
A joint working group was formed to put that cooperation into practice, Akdag noted.
Akdag pointed out that medicine, pharmaceutics, mother and child health, serum and vaccine production were given priority in joint efforts.
Two countries had similar health problems, Akdag said.
Akdag noted that they would determine future cooperation activities and he would have the opportunity of learning about health system of Egypt by visiting some health institutions.
His visit would accelerate cooperation in health between two countries, Akdag added.
