Singapore - A second bank in Singapore is offering full services on Sundays after a survey of 600 customers showed strong support for abandoning the traditional day of rest, OCBC officials said Monday.
More than 3,000 users of the Overseas Chinese Banking Corp (OCBC) visited five branches on the first working Sunday.
Standard Chartered Bank is the only other in the city-state that offers Sunday banking, since last month.
"We will be assessing the response and will consider extending this convenient service to more branches to meet our customers' needs," The Straits Times quoted OCBC head of delivery as saying.
The selected branches are open Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm and are within shopping malls and near public transportation.
Customers praised the convenience of Sunday opening. Nearly 200 new OCBC accounts were opened Sunday.
