President Sezer Applies To Constitutional Court For Cancellation Of Two Articles Of Forest Law

ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer applied on Tuesday to Constitutional Court requesting the cancellation of its two articles and stopping their enforcement.
The law which amended the Forest Law was published in the Official Gazette the same day and entered into force.
President Sezer who sent on Monday the law, which was reconsidered and adopted as it was by the parliament, to the Prime Ministry for promulgation, announced that he would apply to the Court for cancellation of its two articles.
President Sezer asked the Court to cancel and stop the enforcement of Article 1 on not considering chestnut trees and other kind of trees as forest lands and Article 13 which brought a special regime to benefit from those areas.
