NEW DELHI - "The conference is an important step to show that Afghanistan has become a part of regional cooperation," said Turkish State Minister Besir Atalay who spoke at the 2nd Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan in Indian capital of New Delhi on Saturday.
"Despite the progress recorded in reconstruction of Afghanistan, it is necessary to provide integration of this country with regional projects," he added.
Stressing the importance of regional cooperation to provide sustainable structuring as well as socio-economic development, Atalay said that intensive participation to the conference showed the determination of international community to increase regional cooperation for reconstruction of Afghanistan.
"Use of energy resources has an importance in regional cooperation. Private sector plays a significant role in regional cooperation. I am proud of Turkish private sector`s active role in Afghanistan," said Atalay.
"We will examine regional projects and try to establish a mechanism in this regard during the conference," he added.
"We need a main plan to boost cooperation. We should firstly focus on trade, transportation and energy areas," said Atalay.
