ANKARA - The 11th Ankara International Theater Festival was inaugurated today with a street show named "Merhamet" (Mercy) in which the feelings of a youngster who committed an honor killing and murdered his sister are narrated.
65 performances, including plays, concerts, workshops and documentaries, will be held within the framework of the festival, said Abdullah Kahraman, the head of Ankara branch of Foundation for Social Researches, Culture & Arts (TAKSAV).
Kahraman stated that also a children`s play will be performed during the festival.
"We aim to organize two festivals a year, including a children`s plays festival and international theater festival," he said.
Noting that street theater is important to show people what theater is, Kahraman noted, "therefore we have included four street plays in this year`s program."
The festival will end on December 6th.
