ISTANBUL - "We aim at making the Tofas the biggest manufacturing center of the FIAT in the world by making new investments," Turkish Automotive Factory Inc. (Tofas) CEO Ali Pandir said on Friday.
Speaking at a meeting held to promote the modified Ducato, Pandir said, "Tofas became one of three most important manufacturing centers of the FIAT with its Mini Cargo and Linea."
"We reached a 16 percent growth rate in manufacturing of automobiles in the first ten months of 2006 over to the same period of 2005. On the other hand, we target to raise our exports by 40 percent from 840 million USD to 1.2 billion USD. Also, we are planning to export 120 thousand motor vehicles by the end of the year," he added.
Tofas retains its quality of being one of the flagship organizations not only in the Turkish automotive industry but also in the Turkish economy. It makes production for both the home market and many countries of the world and has the economic scale for producing 250 thousand cars a year.
