MARMARIS - The 7th Economic Summit of Turkish Aegean Coasts & Greek Aegean Islands began in Aegean town of Marmaris.
Taking the floor at the summit, Izmir Chamber of Commerce Assembly Chairman Necip Kalkan noted that trade volume between Turkey and Greece demonstrated a serious rise since the economic summit in Lesbos in 1998.
Stating that politicians` way of thinking is different from the ordinary people and tradesmen, Kalkan said that they aim at a pretty good cooperation between two countries. Kalkan said, "Long live Turkey, long live Greece," waving Turkish and Greek flags.
Marmaris Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mustafa Karaca noted that commerce is the guarantee of global peace since societies engaged in business relations can not fight against each other.
On the other hand, George Hacimarkos, chairman of Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce, said that trade relations of two countries do not have only commercial but also cultural and social impacts.
