Islamabad - Islamic militants have executed another cleric in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region for allegedly spying for US forces fighting the resurgent Taliban in neighbouring Afghanistan, media reports said Sunday.
Official sources in Peshawar city identified the cleric as Maulana Mohammad Hashim, an Afghan refugee living in North Waziristan.
His body was found in the Fatehkot region on Saturday night with two bullet wounds to the head. A note pinned to the body claimed the cleric had been spying for the US like "his friend Maulana Salahuddin."
Salahuddin, a resident of the South Waziristan tribal territory, was killed in a similar incident earlier this month.
Four people in the area are known to have been executed on suspicion of spying since the North Waziristan tribes signed a peace deal with the Pakistani government, pledging not to assist Taliban insurgents.
