Shanghai - Roger Federer won a third career title at the Masters Cup on Sunday as he crushed American James Blake 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 and crashed through the 8-million-dollar prize money barrier for the season.
The superlative Swiss began with an ace and was never threatened by Blake, last man to qualify into the eight-strong season-wrapup field. It took just one hour, 37 minutes.
Federer collected his 12th title of the season, finished with a personal-best 92-5 record and notched his sixth win without a loss over Blake.
The Swiss world number 1 also won the event when it was played in Houston in 2003 and 2004 and lost last year's final in Shanghai to David Nalbandian.
Federer won his 29th match in a row as he ran his prize money total for 2006 to 8,343,885 dollars, earning 1,520,000 for his undefeated effort this week.
