Baghdad - Fourteen civilian contractors, including four Americans, were kidnapped in an ambush on their convoy near the southern city of Nasariyah, military officials reported Friday.
The Kuwaiti-based Crescent Security Group convoy was attacked Thursday when it stopped at what looked like an Iraqi police checkpoint, reported ABC news, citing officials. The 19 trucks were driving from near the Kuwaiti border to an Italian base near Nasariyah.
It remains unknown whether the checkpoint was operated by actual Iraqi police or by a Shiia militia, officials said.
