European Parliament To Listen To Representatives Of Opposing Political Parties Of Trnc

STRASBOURG - Representatives of opposing political parties in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will attend a session to be held by four separate commissions of the European Parliament (EP) on Tuesday, as speaker.
Sources told the A.A correspondent on Monday that Peace and Democracy Movement (BDH) leader Mustafa Akinci, Solution and European Union Party (CABP) leader Ali Erel and Republican Turkish Party (CTP)-United Forces representative Kutlay Erk will explain their views over recent developments in Cyprus in the joint session of foreign affairs, human rights, defense and EP-Greek Cypriot side joint parliamentary commissions.
Although his name was not included in the list of speakers, CTP-United Forces leader Mehmet Ali Talat is expected to attend the session.
Elections to be held in TRNC in December, and memberships of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides to the European Union (EU) are expected to top agenda of the session.
Earlier, the EU Commission, in its Regular Progress Report for Turkey, said that any failure in efforts to find a solution to the Cyprus question might constitute an obstacle in opening of accession talks between Turkey and the EU.
