Mettmann - - Tattoo artists from around the world will be attending Tattoonesia 2006 on the South Sea island of Tahiti from December 9 to 12, according to the island`s tourist office in Mettmann, Germany.
Forty artists from 14 different countries will be judged by a jury on their originality, creativity and expertise. The competition will be held on the grounds of the Sheraton Hotel and of course visitors will be able to get a tattoo.
Accompanying the competition is a cultural event giving insights into French Polynesia. Tattoos are an integral part of traditional Tahitian culture and the word tattoo has its origins in Tahiti.
