ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will go to Sweden on Tuesday for an official visit.
Turkey's European Union (EU) process constitutes the main agenda item of the visit which takes place upon the invitation of Swedish Foreign Minister Laila Freidvals.
Diplomatic sources said Turkey's EU membership process will be discussed in details during Gul's visit to Stockholm.
Gul's visit is important as it will take place immediately after announcement of EU Commission's Progress Report. The Swedish side may bring onto agenda human rights issue within EU process.
Sources said Turkish side would convey to their Swedish counterparts what the government has done on the way to EU, the laws that have been issued, and the practices. Sources said Cyprus would also be discussed at the meetings.
Economic and political relations between Turkey and Sweden, EU-NATO process and Iraq, Afghanistan, Middle East process and daily international and regional problems as well as the EU process are expected to be discussed during the meetings of Foreign Minister Gul.
Fight against terrorism is also expected to be discussed at the meetings.
Sources said Turkish side is expected to give information to Swedish side on NATO summit scheduled to take place in Istanbul next year.
Gul, having a busy program in Stockholm, will have a tete-a-tete meeting with Swedish Foreign Minister Freidvals and talks will take place between the delegations.
Gul will meet with representatives of two think tank organizations and Swedish Industry and Trade Minister. Gul will also meet with business circles.
