LEFKOSA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met on Saturday with political party leaders in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) during his visit to TRNC.
Erdogan met with National Unity Party (UBP) leader and Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu, Democrat Party (DP) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat, Peace and Democracy Movement (BHD) leader Mustafa Akinci, Solution and European Union Party (CABP) leader Ali Erel, Nationalist Peace Party co-chairmen Ertugrul Hasipoglu and Ali Riza Gorgun, and Cyprus Justice Party leader Oguz Kalelioglu.
Eroglu, speaking after the meeting, stated that they exchanged views on many issues.
Eroglu said they shared the same views with Turkey to reach a lasting solution in Cyprus.
Solution and European Union Party (CABP) leader Ali Erel said during their meeting with Prime Minister Erdogan they got the impression that a solution would be reached till May 1, 2004, and that cooperation would be made with whoever comes to power after December 14 elections.
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat said they stressed importance of Turkey for the European Union (EU), and that they mentioned importance of peace in Cyprus process.
Peace and Democracy Movement (BHD) leader Mustafa Akinci said at the meeting they wanted Erdogan to find a solution to Cyprus question till May 2004.
Akinci said they stressed that December 14 elections should be just and democratic.
