Neve Shalom Synagogue Sight Of An Attack In 1986

ANKARA - Twenty-three Jewish people had died in an armed attack which was staged against Neve Shalom Synagogue, which was the sight of one of Saturday's explosions in Istanbul, on September 6, 1986.
The first armed attack on the Synagogue was staged at 9.17 a.m. on September 6, 1986 Saturday. Two terrorist had attacked on people praying at the synagogue by bombs and machine guns. Twenty-three Jewish citizens had lost their lives while only one person survived the attack which lasted a few minutes. Two Arab terrorists who staged the attack died when exploding the bombs.
Those who died in the attack were buried in Arnavutkoy Askenaz Cemetery after the funeral held at Neve Shalom Synagogue on September 10, 1986.
The synagogue was repaired after the attack and re-opened on May 20, 1987.
Neve Shalom Synagogue was also the sight of an attack of two terrorists on March 1, 1992.
Nobody died or injured and the building was not damaged in the attack thanks to measures taken beforehand.
Terrorist who staged the attack were captured.
