World Bank and TEPAV Open Joint Information Center in Ankara

The World Bank and the Türkiye Economic Policy Research Institute (TEPAV) launched a shared information center in Ankara in November 2006, with World Bank Country Director for Türkiye Andrew Vorkink presiding over the opening ceremony.

Vorkink described the center as a way to bring the World Bank's work to a broader audience, offering public access to project documents, reports, and publications, along with online connections to development and research resources from governments, international bodies, and non-governmental organizations.

TOBB (Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye) head Rifat Hisarciklioglu and TEPAV Director Guven Sak also attended. Hisarciklioglu said TOBB created TEPAV to fill a gap in independent economic policy research aimed at sustaining growth.

He described the World Bank partnership as a natural fit, saying TEPAV's goals include building technical cooperation and exchanging knowledge with comparable institutions globally.
