ANKARA - Turkey has a sound economy, and economic & commercial relations between Turkey and the United States should be further developed, American-Turkish Council (ATC) President and CEO James Holmes said on Wednesday.
ATC Board Chairman Brent Scowcroft and ATC President Holmes met Rifat Hisarciklioglu, Chairman of Turkish Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), in Ankara.
Holmes told reporters that they discussed how to improve Turkish-U.S. relations.
Holmes said that Turkey and the United States are utilizing a very small part of the real potential in their commercial and economic relations.
"They are utilizing three per thousand of the total potential," he said.
Holmes stressed that they want to raise this rate significantly within five years.
Holmes added that they want Turkey to be successful on the path to EU, and also they want Turkey and the United States to pursue their strong political and economic partnership.
