Ziyal Plans To Pay A Visit To United States

ANKARA - Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal is planning to pay a visit to the United States in December.
Sources told the A.A correspondent on Friday that Ziyal, who would attend meetings of Turkey-the United States Economic Partnership Commission between December 2 and 3, was expected to hold a series of bilateral talks.
Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman will also be in attendance at the Economic Partnership Commission meetings.
Yesterday, Ziyal met with Edelman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and discussed recent developments in Iraq and new structure of relations between Turkey and the United States.
Sources also noted that U.S. State Department's Special Coordinator for Cyprus Thomas Weston will come to Ankara in the coming days.
Weston is scheduled to hold talks with Turkish officials on November 17 prior to the elections in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on December 14.
The United States wants the Cyprus question to be resolved till May of 2004 on the basis of the Cyprus Plan of United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
