ANKARA - The securities account at banks increased 182.9 trillion Turkish Liras (TL) to 48 quadrillion 222.6 trillion TL on October 31, 2003.
The total securities account at banks was 48 quadrillion 39.7 trillion TL on October 24.
The Central Bank data show that there were a total of 47 quadrillion 456.4 trillion TL of securities including 28 quadrillion 142.3 trillion TL of securities and 19 quadrillion 314.2 trillion TL of securities over foreign currency in the deposit banks portfolio.
The securities over TL at deposit banks are composed of 3 quadrillion 672 trillion TL in treasury bonds, 23 quadrillion 972.2 trillion TL in state debenture bonds and 455.3 trillion TL in stocks.
A total of 929.4 trillion TL of foreign currency securities at these banks are abroad while there is a total of 18 quadrillion 267.6 trillion TL of state debenture bonds among the domestic securities.
The total securities account at the development and investment banks was 762.4 trillion TL.
BANKS' CREDIT VOLUME INCREASES BY 1.6 QUADRILLION TURKISH LIRAS
Banks' credit volume increased 1 quadrillion 694.8 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 54 quadrillion 102.7 trillion TL between October 24-31, 2003.
The total credit volume at banks was 52 quadrillion 407.9 trillion TL on October 24.
The credits given to financial sector were composed of 814.6 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 1 quadrillion 800.3 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
The credits given to non-financial sector were composed of 177.7 trillion TL of loans given by Central Bank, 44 quadrillion 668.1 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 4 quadrillion 641.9 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
TOTAL DEPOSITS AT BANKS INCREASE TO 147.7 QUADRILLION TL
Total deposits at banks increased 1 quadrillion 762.3 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 147 quadrillion 703.7 trillion TL as of October 31, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the total deposits were 145 quadrillion 941.4 trillion TL on October 24.
Excluding inter-bank deposits, the total deposits, which were 143 quadrillion 126.2 trillion TL on October 24, increased 2 quadrillion 215.9 trillion TL to 145 quadrillion 342.1 trillion TL on October 31.
The total foreign exchange deposits under total deposits at banks increased 1 quadrillion 141.7 trillion TL from 71 quadrillion 139.2 trillion TL on October 24 to 72 quadrillion 280.9 trillion TL on October 31.
The total TL deposits increased 1 quadrillion 74.2 trillion TL to 73 quadrillion 61.2 trillion TL on October 31. The total TL deposits were 71 quadrillion 986.9 trillion on October 24.
The total TL deposits were composed of 39 quadrillion 272.7 trillion TL deposits at public banks, 32 quadrillion 912.6 trillion TL of deposits at private deposit banks and 630.5 trillion TL of deposits at foreign banks.
REPO TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN BANKS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS INCREASE
Repo transactions between banks and their customers increased by 864.9 trillion Turkish liras (TL) between October 31 and November 7, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the repo transactions, which were 2 quadrillion 886.1 trillion TL on October 31, increased to 3 quadrillion 751 trillion TL on November 7.
Repo transactions among the financial organizations increased 452.5 trillion TL to 7 quadrillion 405 trillion TL on November 7. The total repo transactions amount was 6 quadrillion 952.5 trillion TL on October 31.
The reverse repo transactions among the financial organizations, which were 6 quadrillion 946.3 trillion TL on October 31, increased 375.3 trillion liras to 7 quadrillion 321.7 trillion TL on November 7.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS DECREASE TO USD 67.8 BILLION
Total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks decreased 353 million U.S. dollars to 67 billion 845 million U.S. dollars between October 24-31, 2003.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks was 68 billion 198 million U.S. dollars on October 24.
Foreign exchange deposits decreased 227 million U.S. dollars to 51 billion 600 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Total internal foreign exchange deposits decreased 230 million U.S. dollars to 49 billion 217 million U.S. dollars while external foreign exchange deposits increased 3 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion 383 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposits at the interbank market decreased 199 million U.S. dollars to 528 million U.S. dollars.
Foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts decreased 323 million U.S. dollar to 15 billion 921 million U.S. dollars between October 31 and November 7, 2003.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES DECREASE BY USD 881 MILLION
Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank decreased by 881 million U.S. dollars between October 31 and November 7, 2003.
According to the Central Bank's weekly bulletin, the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves which were 32 billion 928 million U.S. dollars on October 31, decreased to 32 billion 47 million U.S. dollars on November 7.
Total foreign exchange reserves of banks and private finance organizations increased 869 million U.S. dollars from 10 billion 10 million U.S. dollars to 11 billion 644 million U.S. dollars between October 17 and 24.
The international reserves of Turkey comprising gold reserves and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank, commercial banks and private finance organizations decreased 447 million U.S. dollars from 46 billion 480 million U.S. dollars to 46 billion 33 million U.S. dollars between October 17 and 24.
TURKEY REPAYS USD 460 MILLION IN FOREIGN DEBT BETWEEN NOVEMBER 3-12
Turkey repaid a total of 460 million 55 thousand U.S. dollars in external debt between November 3 and 12, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the Treasury repaid 291.70 million U.S. dollars; the Central Bank repaid 4.23 million U.S. dollars, and the administrations with general and consolidated budget paid the remaining 14.77 million U.S. dollars.
Turkey has repaid 13 billion 269.87 million U.S. dollars in external debt since the beginning of the year.
Turkey repaid 847.51 million U.S. dollars in external debt in January, 1 billion 948.87 million U.S. dollars in February, 1 billion 57.93 million U.S. dollars in March, 915.06 million U.S. dollars in April, 1 billion 133.96 million U.S. dollars in May, 1 billion 936.25 million U.S. dollars in June, 1 billion 851.89 million U.S. dollars in July and 907.35 million U.S. dollars in August, 712.08 million dollars in September and 1 billion 498.42 million U.S. dollars in October.
The total external debt repayments in 2002 had been 17 billion 365.18 million U.S. dollars.
