ANKARA - International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference will start in Turkey's southern city of Antalya on November 6th.
The conference is held once every four years. This year's conference will be inaugurated by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, and end on November 24th.
ITU is acting under auspices of UN and it has 191 member states as well as 650 sector representatives.
Nearly 2500 delegates, 500 sector representatives, 77 ministers, 30 deputy ministers and 30 ambassadors will attend the conference in Antalya.
The Plenipotentiary Conference is the top policy-making body of the ITU. The conference sets the Union's general policies, adopts four-year strategic and financial plans and elects the senior management team of the organization, the members of Council and the members of the Radio Regulations Board. It is the key event at which ITU member states decide on the future role of the organization, thereby determining the organization's ability to influence and affect the development of information & communication technologies worldwide.
