ANKARA - Turkey on Friday called on Israel to stop the wide-scale operations in Gaza Strip that led to the killing of innocent people including children.
Releasing a statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said the bitter experiences in Palestine and Lebanon showed that a permanent security could not be ensured through use of disproportionate force and that it was not possible to resolve the political problems through military methods.
The statement underscored that "at a time when there is a strong need to put an end to violence in the Middle East and to make dialogue and compromise prevail, continuation of such kind of acts does not help intensive efforts of the international society for settlement of a new peace dynamism in the region."
The statement called on Israel to put an end to the operations in question which do not serve anything but damage basis of peace and deepen problems of the Palestinian people."
