PARIS - Prof. Dr. Ioanna Kucuradi, who established and chaired the Philosophy Department of the Hacettepe University in Ankara, was included among 60 women who made the most important contributions to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since its foundation.
UNESCO published a book including biographies and works of those 60 women on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its foundation.
Kucuradi`s article on "Philosophy as a tool to overcome injustice" was given place in the book.
Prof. Dr. Kucuradi, who was born in Istanbul in 1936, graduated from the Istanbul University in 1959.
She established the Department of Philosophy at the Hacettepe University in 1969.
Kucuradi has been holder of the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy since 1998. She also acted as president of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies between 1998 and 2003.
She is known with her works on human rights.
