ANKARA - The budget deficit of Turkish social security establishments is expected to be 12.8 billion YTL (approx. 8.7 billion USD) in 2007.
12.8 billion YTL is 2 percent of the Turkish gross national product (GNP).
The Unemployment Insurance Fund`s total value (including assets) will reach 30.3 billion YTL (approx. 20.8 billion USD) in the year 2007.
According to the 2007 Annual Program published in the Official Gazette, the total income of social security establishments (government contributions included) in 2007 will be 70.1 billion YTL (approx. 48 billion USD).
During the same year, expenses by social security establishments will be 82.8 billion YTL (approx. 56.7 billion USD).
In order to minimize the burden caused by social security establishments, the government (in 2007) is planning to raised legal cases to collect debts and eradicate most of unregistered employment and will speed up the collection of social security taxes.
