HURRIYET- `Is the meeting over?' said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier this month after he woke up from a crisis due to a sudden drop in his blood sugar level. This shows what a workaholic Erdogan is. Thanks to his illness, Erdogan had an opportunity to rest, which he needs more than ever. His ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) congress is set for next week. People are talking about changes in the government, and some even say Erdogan will declare that he won't run for president in next year's election. They will see that these words are empty.
A change in the top ranks is very difficult, so there won't be any after the coming congress. Another reason for this is also next year's presidential election. Erdogan won't be willing to make big changes in a period which promises to be difficult. There also won't be many changes in the Cabinet.
His decision to run for president or not is no ordinary one. It will affect the country, himself and his party very deeply. It will be his most difficult decision.
