Finance Minister Unakitan Says They Don't Want A Revised Bid From J.T.I.

ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Tuesday that they did not want a revised bid from JTI company which submitted the highest bid for cigarette enterprises of state-run Tobacco and Liquor Administration (TEKEL).
Following his meeting with representatives of JTI, Unakitan said that officials of the company wanted to pay a courtesy visit and they held their meeting.
Asked if they wanted a revised bid from JTI, Unakitan said, ''no, we didn't.''
Drawing attention that Tender Commission made a decision on beverage enterprises, Unakitan said that the Commission would re-convene and make a decision on cigarette enterprises.
Unakitan pointed out that the decision would be presented to Supreme Privatization Board.
Asked if JTI could increase the bid as a gesture, Unakitan said, ''I don't know. It is their appreciation.''
Unakitan noted that Tender Commission continued studies on cigarette enterprises and could announce its decision today or tomorrow.
