ANKARA - Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun said on Tuesday that Turkey reached an important growth rate over 5 percent and stated that this growth performance put Turkey in a good place among Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries and in the world.
Coskun delivered a speech when Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission discussed budgets of Industry and Trade Ministry and stated that there were good developments in political, social and economic structure of the country in 2003.
Noting that rate of using capacity in industry reached around 84 percent and there was a 12.7 percent of increase in industry production index in September, Coskun said that it was estimated that Turkey's exports would amount to 45.9 billion U.S. dollars and imports would amount to 67.2 billion U.S. dollars at the end of 2003.
