Crewmen Of Georgian-flagged Cargo Ship Rescued

ISTANBUL - A total of 25 crewmen of a Georgian-flagged cargo ship which ran aground off Anadolufeneri on Istanbul Strait and which split into two were rescued on Tuesday.
Officials told the A.A correspondent that Georgian-flagged ship named ''Svatoy Panteleymon'' went adrift due to severe weather conditions when it was to set sail to the Black Sea, and ran aground and split into two between Anadolufeneri and Yon Cape on the Istanbul Strait on Monday.
Four tugboats of Coast Guard and Rescue Directorate General approached the ship which was 16 thousand 216 gross tons in weight and 171 meters in overall length. Rescue teams could not reach crew of the ship due to strong wind and severe weather conditions.
Later, rescue teams installed a telpher system with a hawser and rescued 24 crewmen of the ship. A helicopter rescued the captain of the ship. Health condition of crew was good.
