IZMIR - Turkey's tourism income decreased by 8.9 percent in third term of 2006 covering July, August and September when compared to the same period of 2005.
A statement released by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) said that tourism income amounted to 8 billion USD. Turkey obtained income of 5.8 billion USD from foreign visitors and 2.1 billion USD from Turkish citizens residing outside the country.
The highest tourism income worth 3.1 billion USD was obtained in August 2006.
