BAGHDAD - Four US marines and one sailor have been killed in western Iraq, the US military said Thursday, bringing the American death toll for the month to 96.
The troops "died Wednesday from injuries sustained due to enemy action while operating in Al-Anbar Province," a statement said.
At least 2,802 members of US forces now have been killed or died accidentally in the Iraq campaign since the March 2003 invasion, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon figures.
