ISTANBUL - "The electricity manufacturing groups will be privatized until the end of 2009," said the President of the Privatization Administration, Metin Kilci.
Speaking at a meeting held by HypoVereinsbank (HVB), Kilci reminded that more than 60 business enterprises with a total value of 19 billion dollars, were privatized in Turkey in the last three years.
Kilci noted that privatization of the electricity distribution network and Halkbank will start in 2006, adding that the privatization in the electricity sector will be made as block sales.
Metin Kilci said that they aim to privatize 20 electricity distribution companies in two years. "The electricity manufacturing portfolio groups will be privatized until the end of 2009. This way, liberalization of the electricity sector will be completed before the year 2011," he added.
