PARIS - French Parliamentary general assembly adopted the draft law, submitted by Socialist Party, on criminalization of any denial of so-called Armenian genocide.
The draft law was adopted by 106 votes against 19.
Senate's approval is necessary for enactment of the draft law. The French government will decide whether to send the draft law to Senate.
The draft law envisages maximum 1 year of imprisonment as well as 45,000 Euro fine for individuals who deny so-called Armenian genocide.
Meanwhile, a proposal made by UMP deputy Patrik Deveciyan to exclude scientists and historians from the content of the law was rejected by the French general assembly earlier.
