BRUSSELS - Big Spanish banks are interested in Turkish banks, particularly Halkbank, sources said on Thursday.
Turkish State Minister & Chief Negotiator Ali Babacan for EU talks, who met Spanish executives prior to his arrival in Brussels, discussed ways to boost trade and investments between the two countries.
Spanish executives told Babacan that Spain's direct investments to Turkey in banking, tourism and other areas would rise. Spanish executives indicated that Turkish economy was developing, and noted that they target to make more investments in Turkey.
In an exclusive interview with the A.A. correspondent, Babacan said fragility of the Turkish economy was lessened, and noted that, "it is solid against every kind of developments. To this end, there is nothing to feel worry about it."
Meanwhile, it was reported that Turkey's foreign trade with Spain increased 25 percent in the first 6 months of this year when compared with the same period of last year.
